Earth Day is a reminder to celebrate and raise awareness about our environment every day. There are some simple ways to celebrate Earth Day year-round in your own home and community. Let’s make every day Earth Day.

Plant Something:

A tree, a shrub, some flowers or a whole garden. Plants help clean the air, provide food and cover for wildlife and pollinators, and provide shade for our homes to help reduce energy usage. Trees, shrubs and flowers add to your family’s enjoyment of your outdoor space, enhance curb appeal and can add to the value of your property.

Reduce Energy Consumption:

Turn off lights and electronics when they are not in use. Use energy-efficient light bulbs. Unplug devices that are infrequently used. All of these will reduce your carbon footprint and help the environment.

Conserve Water:

Water conservation protects one of our most valuable resources and can easily be done at home with little effort. Take shorter showers. Fix leaky faucets.  Water plants with collected rainwater.

Clean Up:

Grab some gloves and a trash bag, and pick up litter around your neighborhood, a local park or lake. This helps keep our land and waters clean and beautiful and prevents litter from harming wildlife.

Educate Yourself and Others:

Reach out to your local Conservation Department or Garden Club for information on local events and groups that support our environment. Watch documentaries, read articles, and share information with friends and family about ways to protect the environment and live sustainably.

Working together, we can make a difference.
